Will
Taylor and Strings Attached
In 1999, Will Taylor began
collaborating with local and nationally-renowned musical artists, rearranging
their known material, bringing in his own crew of seasoned jazz and
contemporary roots musicians, and moved the performance venue from the
traditional smoky club scene to the beautiful interior and excellent
acoustics of a church sanctuary. Since then Will Taylor & Strings Attached
have presented over fifty concert collaborations to 10,000+ audience members
and countless more through KGSR and KLBJ live radio broadcasts, with numerous
appearances on KUT, KMFA and KOOP radio.
Though individual members are
accomplished soloists, when teamed up as Strings Attached, the landscape
changes completely, as they expand the featured artist's vision into
other-worldly territory, without
sacrificing the intent or spirit of the original work.
Will Taylor & Strings Attached
continue to create a body of work that is unique, polished, and captivating,
while showcasing individuals of outstanding vocal and musical talent in the community.
Strings Attached has
been hailed as one of the outstanding examples of what makes Austin the “Live
Music Capital of the World”.

Strings Attached presents
Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
Will Taylor and Strings Attached is pleased to have
the following special guests appearing onstage with them. Read on to get to know these talented
individuals a little bit better.
Tameca Jones, former singer for the band 8 Million Stories,
formed her newest project, The Tameca Jones Quartet after she returned from
an enlightening stay in San
Francisco. The soulful jazz renderings of Dinah Washington and the
nimble, vocal dexterity of Ella Fitzgerald opened her ears to a new form of
music. Her quartet presents old standards in a modern, soulful way. While
Tameca gigs with her quartet, she will continue to write new material and
collaborate with Tyler Jakes, a ridiculously talented musician she met while
in San Francisco. Stay
tuned for new original tunes from TJ inspired by Ike and Tina, Led Zeppelin,
and other notable artists of rock and soul.

Karen Mal sings. From
raw sensuality to shimmering bell-like clarity, her voice is both tender and
powerful, and as effortless as a waterfall.
There's a river that flows between Karen and her audience. It's about
love. The possibility and the unbearable
beauty of it. Elusive and abundant at the same time. Based
in Austin, TX, Karen has created a name for herself
as a captivating singer, instrumentalist and songwriter. Ranging from charming to seductive,
impressionistic to philosophical, her songs have brought her nationwide
acclaim. She’s won top awards from the
Wildflower Arts and Music Festival in Texas, the Tucson Folk Festival and the
Portland Songwriters Association and has also been a three time New Folk
Finalist at Kerrville, emerging artist at Falcon Ridge and a finalist at the
Sisters Folk Festival. Read

Darin Murphy hovers
somewhere between Robyn Hitchcock and Jay Farrar, between The Beatles and
Bowie, Darin Murphy has earned a reputation as a gifted songwriter, musician,
producer and well-defined pop artist from the huge talent pool of Austin, TX. Raised
within the music and theater communities of Houston, Murphy
grew up surrounded by musicians, actors and DJ's, developing versatile music
skills and an encyclopedic knowledge of pop records. After releasing two CDs
with his sister Trish Murphy in the mid 1990's, Darin moved to Austin and carved
himself a niche. Solitarium, Murphy's self-produced,
self-performed solo debut, drew praise from critics, record retailers and
curious listeners worldwide. In 2001 the follow-up, Haunted Gardenias,
brought songwriting awards, year-end top ten lists and regular airplay on
commercial AAA radio. In 2005, Murphy landed his first Broadway gig out of
nowhere, acting and singing in Don Scardino's LENNON at New York's
Broadhurst Theatre. When not fronting his own band,
Darin drums and sings in SKYROCKET! and Future
Clouds and Radar (see links on this page). He also teaches, composes music
for commercials and does voiceover work.
