Will Taylor and Strings Attached

In 1999, Will Taylor began collaborating with local and nationally-renowned musical artists, rearranging their known material, bringing in his own crew of seasoned jazz and contemporary roots musicians, and moved the performance venue from the traditional smoky club scene to the beautiful interior and excellent acoustics of a church sanctuary. Since then Will Taylor & Strings Attached have presented over fifty concert collaborations to 10,000+ audience members and countless more through KGSR and KLBJ live radio broadcasts, with numerous appearances on KUT, KMFA and KOOP radio.

Though individual members are accomplished soloists, when teamed up as Strings Attached, the landscape changes completely, as they expand the featured artist's vision into other-worldly territory, without sacrificing the intent or spirit of the original work.

Will Taylor & Strings Attached continue to create a body of work that is unique, polished, and captivating, while showcasing individuals of outstanding vocal and musical talent in the community.

Strings Attached has been hailed as one of the outstanding examples of what makes Austin the “Live Music Capital of the World”.

Strings Attached presents the Songs of Peter Gabriel

Will Taylor and Strings Attached is pleased to have the following special guests appearing onstage with them.  Read on to get to know these talented individuals a little bit better.

Tameca Jones is the former singer for the band 8 Million Stories, formed her newest project, The Tameca Jones Quartet after she returned from an enlightening stay in San Francisco. The soulful jazz renderings of Dinah Washington and the nimble, vocal dexterity of Ella Fitzgerald opened her ears to a new form of music. Her quartet presents old standards in a modern, soulful way. While Tameca gigs with her quartet, she will continue to write new material and collaborate with Tyler Jakes, a ridiculously talented musician she met while in San Francisco. Stay tuned for new original tunes from TJ inspired by Ike and Tina, Led Zeppelin, and other notable artists of rock and soul.  Find her online at:  www.myspace.com/tamecajones.

David Rice - In a career spanning a decade and a half, David Rice has established a reputation for adventurous, soulful music with four critically acclaimed solo albums, and an ever-expanding range of work in artist production and original score for film, television, branded content, and commercials. Tastemaker Boston Phoenix called his 1998 Columbia Records release greenelectric the “smart-pop album of the year,” Billboard praised his “poignancy,” Variety singled out his music in its review of the 2008 feature documentary CRAWFORD, and All Music has characterized him as a “smart, witty, sensitive urban poet.”

David’s haunting guitar work was the signature of the five-years-running Wachovia Bank Uncommon Wisdom campaign and he has composed, produced, and/or performed music in dozens of national ads for Ford, Southwest Airlines, Hyundai, Coca-Cola, Folgers, Honda, Southwest Airlines, US Air Force, and BMW. He composed the score to David Modigliani’s feature documentary CRAWFORD, and for three years running has scored the annual Students of the World See Change documentary series for the Clinton Global Initiative. His collaborations with Mandy Moore have earned him two platinum records as writer/producer. David lives and works in Austin with his wife Lisa and their son Judah. Find David online at www.davidricemusic.com.

Marc Utter  From the heart of a century old barn on the blackland prarie just east of Austin, comes a sound that, while unmistakably Texan, might be heard on the plains of some distant land across the ocean. Gypsy rhythms and slide guitar, banjo and snake charmer blend beautifully as Marc Utter's new band grooves his tales of desperate lovers, destiny, guns and angels. Waltzing from rock to reggae to Latin beat, the Blackland flavors its music with Texeclectic spice.  Marc was a member of the legendary Sharecroppers, Austin's groundbreaking bluegrass rockers. Their '97 release, spirit of the sharecroppers, is a classic Americana recording. Find Marc online at www.myspace.com/marcuttermusic.
