David Parks - Director

Mr. David Parks (See Filmography) is an accomplished filmmaker and photographer, a published writer and publicist.  His photo journalistic career has taken him to the Caribbean, Europe, Vietnam and coast to coast in the U.S.  His photographic work has appeared in Ebony, Time Life Books, Vogue, and Glamour magazines, to name but a few.  He has two books currently in print, G.I. Diary, publisher by Harper and Row, and On our Way, published by Random House, Knopf book division.

His film credits include service as a special photographer for Martin Ritt’s film Great White Hope, released by 20th Century Fox.  For the films Superfly, Shaft, and Leadbelly, (Paramount), Parks was assistant to the directors and publicist.  David is the president of Texas Historical Moments, Inc., a non-profit educational video production company.  He directed a series of documentary films on Texas history for the Texas Sesquicentennial Commission, such as Prince Charles visit to Texas.  He also recently directed a program on “African Art and Cultural Repression” for the University of Texas at Austin Art Department and a pilot series on contemporary Texas Artists.
