Summer Musical Sponsorship Drive

Give your support for Into the Woods.

 

 

            The summer is heating up and, at City Theatre, we are getting set for the conclusion of our 2009 – 10 season with the most incredible of Stephen Sondheim stage musicals;  his salute to the ever – lasting and  never- ending beauty of children’s fairly tales, Into the Woods.  The audition turnout was tremendous and we could not have asked for a more phenomenal cast ready to perform their hearts out August 19 through September 19.

            With that, the biggest hurdle always in producing stage musicals is the increased cost. It is the make or break factor when getting a musical on stage and the biggest factor as to why Austin theatre companies are not able to do more. Those increases comes from many sources including royalties, rental materials, compensation for musicians, and additional scenery and prop items.  Are we ready for the musical production challenge?? Absolutely! Currently, we are digging very deep to cover costs; however, we do need additional help.

            As a supporter of Austin arts, I am contacting you to see if you would be able to sponsor or offer your financial help on this musical project created in 2009 for The City Theatre and its patrons. What we are asking is your help in giving to the City Theatre summer musical sponsorship fund, a program designed to help support our musical production each August. Our goal?  To raise three thousand dollars or more annually.  And it works!  The sponsorship was of such value to the success of our 2009 production of Nunsense and will be vital again this year. So far, sponsors have generously contributed about one – third to our goal. Please give if you can. I think it is a goal we can achieve. And any amount would be beneficial to the musical project. With thirty sponsors at one hundred dollars or fifteen sponsors at two hundred, our goal is met.

             Because of the economic downturn, the Austin arts community has taken a bit of a beating. We are seeing now, more than ever, how sponsorship, especially for this type of live theatre entertainment, is greatly needed. Please send us your contribution! I truly believe, with financial sponsorship from theatre supporters like you, we can have an outstanding stage musical presentation at The City Theatre each year.
