WHAT: About the Performance
Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dance ballet featuring the celebrated work of Mallika Sarabhai. The show, which originally debuted in China in 2002, features choreography and performances by Ms. Sarabhai along with the Darpana Performing Group, and illustrates the excitement of contemporary and classical dance in India.

Mallika Sarabhai is
known as a leading social activist, as well as an award-winning dancer,
actress, filmmaker, TV anchor, editor and teacher. She aggressively speaks out against social injustice, and was
nominated as one of among 1000 women for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005.

OTHER: Classical dance forms have typically been used to convey
religious and historical themes. HTCR is designed to deliver audiences an
experience that will have them tapping their feet to the varied musical
compositions. Ms. Sarabhai asserts, “Our classical dance is a language which can talk
about anything.
